BIOGRAPHY
Growing up as a highly competitive elite athlete, Alex Kraemer always knew her future would be in sports. With a remarkable knowledge of sports, a vibrant personality, and an incomparable work ethic, Alex is quickly establishing herself as a mainstay in front of the camera as the current Gwinnett Gladiators rinkside reporter.
From elementary through high school, Alex played soccer at the highest level. She spent five years on the Olympic Developmental Team while simultaneously serving as co-captain of her Region III Premier League team. She also helped her Super Y team reach Nationals and won three straight state championships. Alex would have continued her winning streak but two injuries ended her soccer career right before college.
At the University of Georgia, Alex studied psychology with an emphasis on sports psychology. During her time at UGA, Alex was a member of the Diamond Darling squad for the university’s DI baseball team. Her senior year, she made the transition to assistant to the Sports Facilitator for Baseball within UGA’s athletic department, where she helped with the baseball recruiting process and learned how to manage time-sensitive scheduling matters for players.
Alex spent two undergraduate summers working baseball promotions, first for the Gwinnett Braves - a local triple-A baseball team - in 2011, and then for the Atlanta Braves in 2012.
After graduating Magna Cum Laude from UGA with a B.S. in Psychology in 2013, Alex immediately entered UGA’s Sports Management Master’s program - the number three sports management program in the country.
During her first semester in graduate school, Alex began interning with the Event Management and Promotions sector of Emory University’s Athletic Department. This led to an internship with Emory’s baseball team in the spring semester, as well as her becoming the host for a weekly web series for the Association for the Protection of Collegiate Athletes.
While obtaining her Master’s, Alex was introduced to promotional and spokes modeling. These jobs gave her more of the on-camera experience that she thrives on. Soon, Alex decided to combine her sports background with her comfort and enjoyment of being on-camera, as she made the transition to sportscaster.
In her final semester of UGA’s Master’s program, Alex worked as the media and broadcasting assistant for the Gwinnett Gladiators, a professional hockey team of the ECHL. Alex wrote all post-game press releases for home games, and was the main assistant to the play-by-play broadcaster. After graduating early with a Master’s of Science in Sports Management in December of 2014, Alex was promoted to the official Rinkside Reporter for the Gladiators.
For the remainder of the 2014-2015 hockey season, Alex served as the on-camera reporter and interviewed the Gwinnett Gladiators before each home game. At the end of that same season, the management granted Alex the job of conducting all post-game interviews from the Gladiators’ bench.
Whether actively participating in athletics or interviewing athletes on-camera, sports will always be a part of Alex’s healthy and active lifestyle.
